Just curious how people set up their hotkeys (as in, control groups). Mine is kind of inefficient and I was thinking about changing the order.
1) Hero + All Units + Golems/Newts (bad! I spam tab a lot) 2) Pet (lol confirmed pet-hogger) 3) Frost Towers + TOT 4) Rats 5) Base 6) Jammy, Wizard, Peasents other misc. creeps name: james mcgovern

5 or 2 Hero + All Units + Golems/Newts 3 or 1 Frost Towers + TOT 4 or 6 Rats 5 or 2 Base 6 but during mass its 5 for Jammy 9 or 7 for defensive hero(2nd or 3rd hero) [img][/img]
Hmm, when I don't golem (which is like 89% of time): 1) Hero 2) Pet (guilty pet hogger here too) 3) Frost Tower 4) Rats For base, I use backspace ;) And jammy, wizard, peasants, etc., I just remember their positions after glossing over it once cause I always put them on "Hold" when I don't need them
For when I golem/creep, etc: 1) Hero + all golem/creep/Newts + Rest of my heroes 2) Newts 3) Golem 4) Shamans if I have 5) Frost Tower 6) Pet :/ <rarely, usually I just personally right click at this point> (and peasant if I am afraid and need recall ^^) For base, I use backspace ;) And jammy, wizard, peasants, etc. I just remember their positions :P I like this setup as I always carry all with me and when I need to individualize, F1 = Hero, 2 = Newts, 3 = Golems 4 = Shamans help make me able to seperate all the clogged units fast individually. F2, F3, F4 also for rest of my heroes.
For some reason I always put #1 as Hero even when I sometimes instinctively use F1. I guess 1 is just faster to spam when there isn't much to hotkey ^_^ F1 is usually like in auto mode (same with F2, F3, F4, F5 respectively) so ya ;)
Mine is pretty inefficient but hey!, it works ^^ I know Mym.moon does this type of hotkey in ladder:
1 = 2nd hero + Range units 2 = Range units 3 = Melee Units 4 = Faerie Dragons and those minor creeps 5 = Tree of Life <later overrides it to ancient of lore or wind> (doing each seperately building helps u see progress bar) 6 = Ancient of War <later overrides it to ancient of lore or wind > (doing each seperately building helps u see progress bar) 7 = Ancient of lore or wind depending on needing faerie dragon or not 8 = Additional buildings like Chimera Roost 9 = Tree of Life 0 = Ancient of War <In case he needs it in future>
And for main hero, he is efficient with using F1.

Hotkey just has to be so that it is natural for you. For me, #1 is like the most normal thing in the world. The "F1", "F2", etc. starts happening when I have more than 1 unit in the hotkey 1

Wow rosa you golem with newts golems etc on different hotkeys? lul you know you can just put them all on group 1 and use tab it's really easier
Tab can't afford timing. I want instinct feedback. Tab can mess me up. I only ever tab once I start adding in turtles since turtle isn't worth my time of attention as much.
Plus, for me, it's like second nature with the grouping. And tab cannot separate different units within a group. Like when your golems get attacked, amateur golemmers move their entire group. A better player just sends 1 or 2 of the golems in movement and that is really only possible with seperate hotkeys. Also, many golemmers move their entire group when summons come. The thing is, with newts on seperate hotkeys, I can ignore summons and quickly spam dispell using shift key with newts while golems are seperately controlled to back and my hero is seperately moving down. ;) Preference <3
Considering some of the best/or at least the better players in game like Cyray and me also spams hotkey #2 for pet does say something about it....that it's a very effective hotkey since CHF is a mana game. Without mana, AOE heroes lose their worth. So, pet is like the most important in game after hero so you gotta take care of it personally <3 with more attention than anything else (other than base and hero :P)
Last thing you want is realizing your pet is in enemy base and committed suicide :/
1) Hero 2 -4) any units or creeps with tab (4 may sometimes be frost towers, depending on who is using them on my team) (most of the time, 2 and 3 will be creeps. while 4 will be units if I tier) 5) Creeps that stay in base such as priest, or jammy 6-7) summons. (includes dtower, wards, etc. not druids though, I hotkey druids with hero when I summon those) If I dont have summons, 6-7 are blank 8) base 9) pet
