I have some solutions for you if your one of those people who can't bare to look at white screens, but you have to be a firefox user. Then just install these 2 addons..
First is this theme this just handles your top and bottom tool bars Black Theme
Then the Blank Your Monitor addon it puts a nice easy to use button on ur bottom toolbar u click it and the white screen turn black or turn it back to regular. Blank Your Monitor
(I just thought I'd share this, also nothing wrong with my eye sight in fact I have over 20, 20 vision but bright white just hurts my eyes.)
not sure whats up with the white text boxes now but ill try to look into it over the next few days , just getting settled back in from vacation I suffer from a condition called dislexix disgraphia so please parden my spelling and typographical errors
