| Well, thread name is self explanatory lol
If you use earphones, earbuds, IEMs, headphones, etc. etc. :3 I would like to know xDD
I currently use only IEMs as I now prefer portability over amp + blah blah. 1. Sennheiser CX 300 ii Precision ( http://en-us.sennheiser.com/noise-c....ecision 2. Yamaha EPH 100 ( http://usa.yamaha.com/product....e=model ) 3. Audio Technica CKR 9 LTD ( http://www.amazon.com/Audio-t....OTADUG8 ) 4. Some random earphone from SkullCandy which I haven't touched lol
I recently became an audiophile! So I'm just wondering what other people use to listen to music :3 Personally, I use #1 when I'm moving a lot with my friend while talking because it is asymmetric (yes... I know there are better earphones at this price range like Xiaomi Piston 2.0 or SoundMagic E10 but then I have to always put it back in a bag and it's a hassle xD) I use #2 to do my math homework because the isolation is out of this world for this price range. I use #3 well.. I just recently got it. xD. It's supposed to be able to compete with 1000-2000 dollar IEMs for sound quality and apparently one of the best bass quality out there in the world. I use this for like... standard listening when I'm in my room. I use #4. Never. Horrible sound quality no offense lol. I just hold it cause like.. I had it with me since 4 year ago XD
So what you guys use? :3

| I am also an audiophile. The two headphones which I used is: Audio Technica M-50s and Sony mdrv55. I brought m50 because there was alot of good review. Let me say it is worth buying however, Sony Mdrv55 matches it. And it is cheaper!!! (Down side is build quality.)
However, I use m50 because of the build quality etc. So if you want a good and cheap audio headphone then sony mdrv55 if you want a good quality headphone that has also good quality then m50s.
As for earphones, I'm not sure myself. If you want true audio people opinion go to: head-fi.

| Quote ÜberGeek ( ) Earbuds are for wussies, Sennheiser headphones are the way to go. But those good ones are all open headphones My roommate would then hear around 40% of the sound coming from the headphone lol <and plus, then I have to get a good DAC, Amp, etc. that easily costs triple-quadruple the headphone cost lol>
Quote Random260 ( ) As for earphones, I'm not sure myself. If you want true audio people opinion go to: head-fi. Hahhahaa I use head-fi. It's my go go site for any audio related activity. And you should try earphones (technically IEM* cough cough.. ) when you have time. There are many IEMs that blow headphones at similar price range. I mean... this rule was definitely not the case in the past but technology changed things a lot. Unless your comparing to open headphones, IEMs nowadays apparently outperform closed headphones at similar budget price.
Quote Random260 ( ) I use m50 because of the build quality etc. Love how the m50 looks. xD (: I was thinking of getting that until I head the EPH 100 ... xD But ya, damn good looking headphones.
Quote ic3dt3a ( ) Sennheiser cx 300 iems (: btw Ic3d, sorry to hear your headphones are falling apart. Maybe you can get repair? o.O

Both of these are closed. The sound quality is AWESOME, the cheaper one is VERY durable too.

| To my mind headphones > earphones, but anyway. I use the JVC ha-s660 and it's pretty awesome for its price (50€).

| Quote FirNesS ( ) To my mind headphones > earphone That is so true but unfortunately... that's only when all things are ideal The problem with headphones is that they consume a lot of energy... much more than a standard professional IEM And because of that, if you want a full quality of headphone, you need the proper drivers to drive them (Yes, your Apple Iphone or your computer can't play anywhere near its true capacity)
And those equipment can easily cost a couple thousand dollars. On the other hand, IEMs use so much less energy so they only need at most like a 200 dollar Amp. So ya, if you had 1000 dollar budget and want best sound quality... for headphone you would be forced to get a 200 dollar pair then 800 dollar setup. However, for IEM, you would be getting 800 dollar IEM and 200 dollar setup.
It's cause of this effect that IEM nowadays have advantage. Headphones to get their full potential need really good DAC, AMP drivers and those cost much much much much much much much more than the headphone itself.
Also, building a headphone is much more costly than IEMs. Building an IEM for a company is relatively cheap so they can invest more on the sound quality itself. Building a high end headphone itself is not cheap so they really can't invest on sound quality as much.
But all things considered, if your IPhone can play like an 8000 dollar AMP/DAC setup Headphones without a doubt will always trump IEMs. It's only cause of the innate disadvantages of headphones that professional listeners can no longer claim that headphones are better than IEMs. In fact, most will agree you really can't compare. xD
But a properly amped Sennheiser 650 or above can easily stump any IEMs xDD (excluding like JH Audio 13 0.0)
