it becomes bs when 1 strong op mauler can pwn whole team.
I've used melee mauler in inhouse game, mauler was still strong in late game without divine shiled.
although death finger and TT can counter avatar but that's the right way.
maulers are still strong.

depends on the game style.... any mauler needs a ton of gold to basekill... if u are alone with a mauler, u can lose really easy
u can see that in the replay btw  they used 3 sleep rods, god wards, divine nets,100 turtles with speed scrolls and newts... fuck that crap! my mauler could barely do anything entire game, even with huge pool and very high dmg >.<
