| That's gonna be hard to upgrade... because of the size of it, it will be using laptop spec hardware. It's not carrying any standard size motherboard in there in there for sure. You'll have to ask an Apple Technician, taking that thing apart is probably quite risky, and because a lot of Mac users don't upgrade their hardware, and it's not high-end, I think the GPU is probably going to be soldered on, and if not, buying a GPU and replacing it will be no easy task. Best ask an Apple Technician.

| Yeah I've upgraded my laptop and mini before. But apple is retarded and does sh*t like this. I'll probs just get a raedon cause those work most of the time. But there new macs have simple take apart now so I feel like they could help out because they've designed macs for upgrading now sooo..

| apple products are not supposed to be upgraded. you're supposed to have money to buy the next gen model before it comes out

| Quote (ic3dt3a) apple products are not supposed to be upgraded. you're supposed to have money to buy the next gen model before it comes out soooooooooo true ^^ Its cause macs' fundamentals are VERY different from pc
Chinesekid, i repeat, DO NOT JUST SIMPLY BUY A RANDOM GRAPHICS CARD MAC IS NOT PC A tip from an engineer: Unlike windows or linux, macs can almost NEVER be upgraded. Why? Its not just cause its hard to take out, but because the SOFTWARE literally READS the macbook's original stuffs. Ex. In Windows, processor = any random processor found In Mac, software defined PROCESSORS only = any other processors can nvr be found by mac and thus the mac will just...not work ^^
so...dont even plan on getting drivers I assure u 100% of time, u cannot upgrade ur mac mini's graphic driver (2% on processor types ^^) Now .. if u can do math 100% u can nvr change graphics card...means :P but as for processor, there are 2% ^^ (those intel cores used by apple -very SPECIFIC ones-)
Summary: NEVER BUY A FREAKING MAC IF UR PLAYING GAMES. And dont even think of buying a graphic card cause u will be liek "WTF IT DOESNT WORK. SCREW TH3S ^^^" (All this warning is from me...some1 who knows about computers ^^)Added (2012-05-28, 2:52 AM) --------------------------------------------- if ur still confused, learn about simple coded language and complex coded language simple coded = apple's company (no other companies use this by default...its waste of time. ) complex coded = PC (all softwares love this ... ez to program, more efficient, slower (lol), but works on ALL TYPES of processors, ram, driver, and what not that is made of transistors)
btw. if u buy a graphic card for mac mini and it works, i think u can apply for Guinness record for breaking the impossible ^^ (probably even get full scholarship to MIT cause not even they can do it unless they buy a motherboard and reformat the hard drive ^^ )

In Windows, processor = any random processor found In Mac, software defined PROCESSORS only = any other processors can nvr be found by mac and thus the mac will just...not work ^^ Can you explain the difference? In a PC, you can't choose any random processor, the socket type of your mobo and the processor has to be the same... In a Mac, the same principle applies. Macs are using Intel 3rd generation CPU's, so are PC's. The only difference is I think Apple doesn't use AMD products, they use Intel. Still, they are widely available, and easy to upgrade. Macs are using DDR3 RAM, so are PCs. Macs are using SATA HDDs and SSDs, so are PCs. Macs are using PCI-E 16x GPUs, so are PCs. Macs are using PSU's, like a PC, they aren't powered by a donkey with a carrot stick.
I think the only reason his would be hard to upgrade is because its tiny form factor.
Edit: Mac Upgrades
Quote The Mac mini has all of its components on one logic board. Consequently it is not possible to upgrade the graphics cards on these machines.
There are no graphics card upgrades available for these Macs

| Just trust me, u can not add graphics card to this cr4ppy computer

Not necessarily true. Yes, in a pc, the pin numbers matter and the type of motherboard per the different processor. BUT take into account that apple was retarded and went simple coded language (forgot the abbreviation name) while windows went complex coded Simple is longer but faster BUT THERE WAS A PROBLEM. Most softwares were complex so..lolz Sensing this, mac had to act differently from community to stand out. So, they PURPOSELY configured the retarded OS to fit only laptops/desktops with their "SUPPORTED" cr4p. In other words, u can add almost any processor to ur windows 7 (just change motherboard and processor) BUT u have limited choices when changing processor on ur mac since it was meant to be hardwired to the os...literally (this thing is a little bit hard to explain when i majored this......2 yrs ago -_- and trying to dumb it down)
just trust me on this though U CANNOT ADD A GRAPHIC CARD FOR UR MAC MINI. I even did research right now cause i was surprised at humanity's stupidity.

What le_f0ck lol. It's the same CPU, made with the same manufacturing process, same number of pins, there's not a special "Mac" version of each processor. And yes you can't upgrade the Mac mini, but that doesn't hold true for all the Macs in the world.
