I agree with spidey. The guys voice isn't clear, which you said he's new to recording, but you need to stick a beat with his rhymes or vice versa. You've got a beat but it's too subtle and it doesn't really go along with his rapping.
yeah its almost like the track is distant it seems disconnected from the vocal track , hey don't mix together well
maybie bring up the music track more and find another element to bring it all together
